Three Suspects Arrested for Burglary at Tajiguas Landfill
Tajiguas - February 4th, 2014
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three Los Angeles residents last night following a burglary at the Tajiguas Landfill located at 14470 Calle Real in an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara. Sheriff’s deputies are attempting to locate the fourth suspect involved whom they also believe is from the Los Angeles area.
At around 10:30 p.m. last night, Sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm activation at the Tajiguas Landfill. When they arrived, they discovered four suspects fleeing the area. After a foot pursuit, Sheriff’s deputies apprehended two suspects, 25-year-old Marvin Palacios and 39-year-old Esteban Henriquez. 36-year old Rony Lopez was tracked down by a Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. During the process of taking him into custody, Lopez resisted arrest, assaulted the K-9 and was subsequently bit by the dog receiving minor injuries. He was treated and released from a local hospital and then transported to jail.
Despite an extensive search by Sheriff’s Deputies, the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit and California Highway Patrol, the fourth suspect was not located.
Sheriff’s deputies recovered more than $3,000 worth of stolen power tools that had been removed from locked metal storage containers on the property.
All three suspects were charged with burglary, conspiracy and resisting arrest. Lopez was also charged with attempting to injure a police dog. The three suspects were booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $20,000 bail.
