Taxi Driver Arrested for Possession of Loaded Firearm and Narcotics
Orcutt - February 15th, 2017
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on February 13, 2017, a Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a taxi cab in the area of Tanglewood Drive and Driftwood Drive for a traffic violation. During the stop, the deputy contacted 42-year-old Juan Francisco Roman of Santa Maria who was the driver of the taxi cab. During this contact, deputies conducted a search of the taxi cab and located a loaded 9mm firearm next to the driver seat. In addition, deputies located a usable quantity of methamphetamine and heroin.
During the course of the investigation, deputies learned Roman was a convicted felon with multiple prior arrests for weapons violations. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for a variety of felony charges. Roman is being held on $50,000 bail.
