UCSB Rape Suspects

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team has been called in to assist Sheriff’s Detectives, Isla Vista Foot Patrol Deputies and UCSB Police Officers in searching for evidence related to the brutal attack and rape of a UCSB student by a group of suspects on Sunday, February 23. The 19-year-old female victim was last seen walking alone between midnight and 12:30 a.m. in the area of Embarcadero Del Mar and Segovia Road. The Sheriff’s Search and Rescue volunteers were called in at 4:15 p.m. today, February 25, to help authorities canvas the area for any evidence that may assist with the investigation. They will be searching potential crime scenes in East Isla Vista and the UCSB campus.
At this point in the investigation, it is still unknown where the assault took place and the suspects have not been identified. Authorities are actively working together to determine what happened and who is responsible. We continue to request public assistance to help solve this crime. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new information in the case of a 19-year-old UCSB student who was beaten and sexually assaulted by a group of suspects, described as Asian males, on Sunday morning, February 23, in the Isla Vista area. The victim was last seen between midnight and 12:30 a.m. walking northbound on Embarcadero Del Mar in the vicinity of Segovia Road. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Detectives and Deputies with the Isla Vista Foot Patrol are working with University of California Police Department Officers to determine where the crime occurred and to identify the suspects involved.

The victim was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon and is with her family.
UCSB Student is Severly Beaten and Raped By Group of Suspects
Isla Vista - February 23rd, 2014
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputies and University of California Police Department Officers are working together to determine where a 19-year-old UCSB student was beaten and raped last night or early this morning by a group of suspects described as Asian males. The crime occurred sometime between 11 p.m. on February 22 and 4 a.m. this morning, February 23. Following the attack, the victim was able to return home to her residence in Isla Vista and notify her roommate and authorities. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries and an examination.
Sheriff’s Deputies and UCPD Officers are searching the Isla Vista area and UCSB campus with the assistance of a Sheriff’s K9 Unit to determine where the crime occurred and for information that will help them identify and locate the suspects.
