Prowling Residential Burglar Arrested

Goleta - April 4th, 2017

A suspect believed to be responsible for prowling and burglarizing multiple residences in the City of Goleta was arrested late last night, April 3, 2017, after being confronted by a homeowner and deputies as he was attempting to flee the scene of the crimes.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., deputies from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Goleta Valley Patrol Bureau assisted by the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to the 400 block of North Pepperdine Court in Goleta on a citizen’s report of a subject shining a flashlight into a residence. That suspect was also seen inside residents’ backyards and hopping over fences. Another resident reported hearing someone on top of their roof. Deputies responded and were able to quickly establish a perimeter and deployed a K-9 team.

A male subject, later identified as 30-year-old Micaiah Meadows of Santa Barbara, was soon found running from a residence within the perimeter. That homeowner was contacted and stated that he had caught Meadows rummaging through his garage. Meadows tore through the homeowner’s drywall in the ceiling in an attempt to conceal himself.

During the investigation, information was also developed on additional residential burglaries in the area. The investigation tying Meadows to these offenses is on-going.

Micaiah was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on one count of 459 P.C. – Burglary, multiple counts of 647(h) P.C. – Prowling and 148 P.C. – Resisting Arrest with bail set at $50,000. Micaiah was also found to have an outstanding local arrest warrant for violating his probation.

The Sheriff’s Office thanks the observant citizens who provided information on the fleeing suspect. As this is the second burglary apprehension in recent days the Sheriff’s Office wants to take this opportunity to remind residents to:

- Always lock your residence or business. - Close your windows and garages.
