Public Assistance Requested to Identify and Locate Carpinteria Bank Robbery Suspect


Carpinteria - April 27th, 2017


At approximately 5:20 p.m. today, April 27, 2017, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a silent alarm call at the Montecito Bank and Trust located in the 1000 block of Casitas Pass Road in the City of Carpinteria.  When deputies arrived, bank employees confirmed that a robbery had just occurred.  According to witness statements and video surveillance, a Caucasian or Hispanic, heavyset male handed a teller a note demanding money and fled on foot out the front door after he was given an undisclosed amount of cash. At no time was there a weapon reported or observed during the incident. 


Sheriff’s deputies searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, approximately 50 to 60 years of age, 5’9” to 5’11” tall and 250 pounds.  He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, sunglasses and a black baseball cap with a green “Zoo York” emblem. 


The Sheriff’s Office is releasing surveillance photos from the bank robbery and is asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity, whereabouts, or any other information that would assist investigators, to contact the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division at 805-681-4150 or to leave an anonymous tip call 805-681-4171.  You can also send a tip by using the following hyperlink:
