Alleged Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested in Isla Vista
Isla Vista - November 27th, 2016
Isla Vista Foot Patrol Officers arrested a local transient believed responsible for several residential burglaries in the Isla Vista community. Following an investigation, 24-year-old Adam Winslow Dale was arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of prowling and burglary.
The investigation began just before 10:00 a.m. on November 26, 2016, when UCSB Police Officers assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol station were dispatched to 6600 block of Del Playa Dr. for a report of a suspicious male subject seen walking into a backyard and jumping fences. Officers arrived and searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect. During the search, officers found a backpack near the 6600 block of Sabado Tarde containing property believed to have been recently stolen during a residential burglary.
At approximately 11:00 a.m. this same date, officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious subject matching the same description who was walking westbound on Sabado Tarde. Officers found the subject standing underneath an overhang in the 6600 block of Sabado Tarde. The subject, who was identified as being Dale, had a backpack on the ground next to him. A search of his backpack revealed property that had recently been stolen from residential burglaries in Isla Vista, including two MacBook laptops. So far, Dale has been identified as the suspect in two residential burglaries where entry to the homes was made through unlocked windows. Dale was also in possession of methamphetamine.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to lock all windows and doors when leaving their homes. This is especially important in Isla Vista during the holiday season when many residents leave the area for extended periods of time.
