Five People Arrested in Santa Maria Including Felon in Possession of a Firearm

 

Santa Maria - December 1st, 2016

 

On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, the Compliance Response Team requested the assistance from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau and Santa Maria Police Department to conduct search warrant service, in conjunction with a Community Supervision compliance check at a residence in the 1800 block of Kent Ct., in Santa Maria. A total of five people were arrested including a felon in possession of a firearm who was also charged along with a female resident for child endangerment.

 

During a search of the residence, a loaded .380 caliber handgun was located stored under a baby’s crib and approximately 3.4 grams of methamphetamine was found concealed in baby clothes.  Loose ammunition and firearm parts were also discovered.  Child Welfare Services social workers responded and assisted deputies with doing a medical evaluation of a one-year-old child who was later released to a family member. The Santa Maria Police Department Community Services Unit responded to check for potential municipal code violations. 

 

25-year-old Leobardo Ramos Verdugo was arrested on charges of child endangerment, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession for sales of a controlled substance and committing a felony while out on felony bail.  28-year-old Olga Chavez was arrested on charges of child endangerment, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession for sales of a controlled substance.

 

64-year-old Maria Coria was arrested for being a felon in possession of ammunition. 18-year-old Sergio Ruiz-Vargas was arrested for providing false information to a peace officer. 37-year-old Jaime Coria was arrested for obstructing law enforcement and violation of Community Supervision terms. 27-year-old Lauren Robinson was released on a citation for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
