Welcome to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Citizen Online Police Reporting System. If this is an Emergency please call 911. Using this online citizen police report system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report for free. Please confirm the following to find out if online reporting is right for you:
-You are 18 years of age or older.
-This incident occurred within the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction.
-The incident cannot be in progress.
-There cannot be suspect information or evidence that can lead to the identification of a suspect.
-The incident you are reporting does not involve the use or threat of a weapon/gun/knife.
-No crimes involving a burglary (breaking into your home, garage, locked business or locked vehicle).
-Crimes involving theft of a stolen vehicle or thefts of license plates cannot be filed online
-Thefts of firearms or ammunition cannot be filed online.
If your incident meets the above criteria, you are ready to file your report online. Please make sure to turn off your pop-up blocking software before filing the report. Upon completion of this report process you will:
-See the words: "Your online police report has been submitted" showing that your report is complete.
-Be given a report case number.
-Be able to print a copy of the report to keep for your records.
-All cases filed using the Citizens Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed by a patrol supervisor.
-Upon review, if further investigation on your case is needed, you may be contacted.
-Filing a false police report is a crime per California Penal Code 148.5.
Currently, the following incidents or crimes can be filed online:
Lost Property, Thefts, Animal Complaints, Child Custody Violations, Telephone Harassment, Civil Complaints, Vandalisms, Trespassing, Unlawful use of a credit card, Vacation check requests, Fraud/Identity Theft and Supplemental reports.
