Second in Command
Craig Bonner was selected as the Undersheriff in August of 2022. He is the second in command at the Sheriff’s Office and is largely responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. He directly represents the Sheriff when called upon to do so.
Undersheriff Bonner has served the Santa Barbara County community for 29 years within a variety of law enforcement and corrections capacities in the Sheriff’s Office. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management and is a graduate of the 14-month POST Command College program, as well as the California Police Chiefs Association/ Drucker Executive Leadership Institute. Craig grew up in Santa Barbara County, chooses to raise his own family here and is very passionate about ensuring the Sheriff’s Office continues providing the best possible public safety services to our community members.
