Isla Vista, Calif. – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 14-year-old male for the June 16, 2024, animal abuse case where chickens were beaten to death. At approximately 2:37 p.m. today, a community member spotted the suspect on El Greco near Embarcadero Del Mar and called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the area, contacted the suspect and took him into custody. Once detained, deputies developed supporting evidence that the juvenile was in fact the suspect in this case. The suspect was later released to his guardian and this case will be referred to the juvenile courts.
