This unit is comprised of regular Deputy Sheriffs, Correction Officers, Reserve Deputy Sheriffs and Technical Sheriff Reserves. The members are proficient in both salt and fresh water operations and provide a valuable service when recovering submerged evidence or executing search and recovery details. Members of this unit also operate the Sheriff’s Department 30-foot Alur cabin cruiser. This boat extends the capabilities of narcotics enforcement offshore and allows us to meet increased requests for patrol of the Channel Islands and the Santa Barbara County coastline.
