The mission of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team (SET) is the protection and preservation of live incidents of a critical or high-risk nature.
The presence of a highly skilled and trained law enforcement tactical unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, law enforcement officers, and suspects. A well-coordinated “team” response to such critical incidents is more likely to result in a successful and peaceful resolution. It is the intent of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team to provide a highly trained and skilled tactical team as a resource for the handling of high-risk incidents such as:
- Barricaded Subjects
- Hostage Situations
- Sniper Situations/Armed Individuals
- High-Risk Apprehension
- High-Risk Warrant Service
- High-Risk Prisoner Transport
- Dignitary Protection
- Special Assignments
