CONTEST THE CITATION
The following is the procedure to contest a notice of parking violation in writing. The Citation Contest Form CLICK HERE , must be submitted with a copy of the citation, and any other supporting documentation.
This process may be completed rather then appearing in court to contest a parking citation or minor parking violations which are no longer criminal infractions. They have been reduced to civil offenses. The criminal courts no longer will hear parking matters. If you wish to challenge your parking citation, you may do so according to the civil administrative process outlined below. If you have a question about the citation, please contact the office where the citation was issued (i.e. Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, etc.)
It is important to request the contesting of the citation within 21 days of the citation issue date or 14 calendar days from the mailing of notice of delinquent citation parking violation. Failure to meet these requirements will result in an increase to your parking penalty, as well as your vehicle registration withheld by the Department of Motor Vehicles until full amount of your citation, including late penalties, is paid in full.

Mail the written request with a copy of your citation, including justification for dismissal, your name, address, and phone number to the following address.
