Lompoc, Calif. – A male and a female suspect have been arrested after violently attacking two victims in their own home. On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at approximately 12:23 p.m., deputies responded to the 4000-block of Capella Drive in Lompoc for a report of a battery that had just occurred. The suspects later identified as 21-year-old Clyde Richardson of Lompoc and 23-year-old Devon Leininger from Lompoc, fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival in a silver Ford Mustang. Deputies learned that Richardson and Leininger, who are familiar with the victims, knocked on the door and then pushed their way into the residence where they physically attacked the adult male and adult female victims. During that attack, Richardson brandish a handgun, threatened the male victim and struck him in the head with the handgun. Prior to fleeing the residence, the suspects slashed the tires of the victims’ vehicles.
Sheriff’s Dispatch shared the suspect information with area agencies, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as a be-on-the-lookout. At approximately 1:51 p.m., a CHP officer located the suspects on Central Avenue at D Street where they were ultimately arrested without further incident. Richardson was found in possession of a loaded firearm.
Clyde Richardson was arrested for residential burglary (felony), assault with a deadly weapon (felony), battery (misdemeanor), criminal threats (felony), conspiracy (felony), vandalism (felony), brandishing a firearm (felony), violation of a restraining order (misdemeanor), carry a loaded firearm in public (felony), possession of a un-serialized “ghost gun” (felony), possession of a controlled substance while being in possession of a firearm (felony), carrying a loaded firearm while committing a felony (felony), and possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor). He is being held without bail.
Devon Leininger was arrested for residential burglary (felony), assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury (felony), battery (misdemeanor), criminal threats (felony), conspiracy (felony), vandalism (felony), vandalism (felony), dissuading a witness (felony), possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held without bail.
